Florida pest control companies are licensed by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) under Chapter 482, and each licensed business has a license number that begins with "JB." Association staff with the right limited certification can treat common areas, but treatment inside individual units has to be done by a licensed pest control company. Before signing a community-wide contract, ask for the JB number and confirm it with FDACS. Also ask which service categories the company holds (for example general household pest, termite, or lawn and ornamental), the treatment schedule, how units will be notified, and a certificate of insurance.
